Healing Waters continued where we left off at the first Iridium date, Let The Sound Go Forth! — Paul going deeper and Ravi playing on different tunes, similarly and differently to his dad, working from what I call the “inside-out”. I made sure there was plenty of room to stretch and cut deep, sometimes right to the bone and sometimes beyond the body-mind. The music was always contemplative and easily slipping in and out of the times. I love inspiring and pushing cats to their limits as needed, just as giving each and every player the freedom to transcend himself and the conventional and unconventional musical mind. Coincidently, Elvin Jones, who both Ravi and I played with, passed the day we played, bringing a sense of sweet tragedy and soulful, gigantic, musical loss to all of us, which made the music that much more powerful, meaningful, and profound. This is must-hear and must-have Sound for all creative musicians, regardless of instrument or culture, who are into jazz and studying extensions of or parallels to John Coltrane’s incomparable work. —Tisziji Muñoz
